June 25, 2007: Aguilla's Catherine Niles, won the "most creative
use of Angostura Bitters award by a bartender" at the Taste
of the Caribbean competition in Miaimi, Florida on the
weekend.
Her creation was a non-alcoholic drink called "Irie Beet"
that was served in two layers individually blended with ice.
Irie Beet consisted of a red layer containing fresh lemon, basil leaves, fresh cooked
beets and lime, pineapple and lemon juices
and a yellow layer of mango puree,
orange juice, cane sugar and Angostura aromatic bitters.
