Antiguan
wins OECS Championship, Anguillian riding for St. Maarten,
was the fastest rider. |
On June 16-17 the
St. Kitts/Nevis federation hosted the 2007 OECS cycling
championships. The field included riders from the BVI,
Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, St. Lucia, St. Vincent & The
Grenadines and "Guest" from St. Maarten, a none OECS
territory. The grueling 75 mile ride was a scene of triumph
for an Anguillian even though the specifics of his
participation meant that the second place finisher from
Antigua was deemed the official OECS Championship winner.
Officially the results were:
- Robert Marsh of Antigua and Barbuda
- Grenadian Tyrone Thomas
- Anguillan Ronnie Bryan
- Grenadian Troy Felix
- Anguillian Claude Richardson

The fastest rider
on the day was Kris Pradel of Anguilla, who according to
sources, participated as a member of the
V8 cycling team in St. Maarten and not as a part of
the Anguilla cycling team. Given St. Maarten is not a OECS
member, their team members were not eligible for official
race positions.
Anguilla was represented by CLAUDE RICHARDSON, RONNIE BRYAN
AND TRAVIS RICHARDSON. |
