June 16, 2007: The Royal Navy support ship RFA Wave
Ruler is expected to anchor off Road Bay on Sunday and remain
in Anguilla until June 20.

The ship will host visits by students on Monday June 18, and crew members are
expected to attend the Queen's Birthday celebrations later that evening at
Government House.

The next day the commanding officer Captain
M T Jarvis RFA is expected to pay courtesy calls on Governor Andrew George,
Chief Minister Osbourne
Fleming and Commissioner
of Police Keithly Benjamin.
It is also expected that members of the Ship’s
Company will also be providing
training assistance
to various agencies in Anguilla during her brief visit.
The RFA Wave Ruler is
one of two Wave class fleet tankers operating in support of the Royal Navy. Her
sister ship RFA Wave
Knight visited Anguilla in
May 2005.
RFA Wave Ruler was launched at
the BAE shipyard in Govan,
near Glasgow, in February
2001, and was handed
over to the RFA in October
2003.
The ship has a capacity to
carry some 16,900 tonnes of
fuel and 915 tonnes of dry stores. She has been deployed to the Caribbean region
since April 2006 and is due to spend 17 months in the
region. She is the second and last ship of her class
currently in service with the Royal Fleet Auxiliary. |
