| Gli Gli to
arrive in Anguilla Today |
May 21, 2007: As reported earlier the historic
journey of Kalinago
Caribs on the Gli Gli canoe is expected to arrive in
Anguilla this week. Their arrival
will be on Monday May 21,
one day later than their
originally published schedule, and they are expected to
stay on the island for 3 days.
As part of the programme of activities for the
group, the Anguilla National Trust in collaboration with
the Ministry of Social Development is organizing drumming
and arts and crafts workshops, exhibitions, cultural
presentations, school visits and opportunities for members
of the public to sail in the Gli Gli canoe.

| The crew is
expected to visit Fountain Cavern National Park,
discuss Carib culture, perform traditional Carib music, demonstrate
their unique craft-making techniques and show a
BBC documentary “The Quest of the Carib Canoe” which
is a film about Gli Gli’s historic sail from Dominica to Guyana 10 years ago. |
