March 3, 2007: Abraham Harrigan (77) the owner of Hide-Away Grocery in
Little Dix, appeared before the Magistrates Court on Wednesday, May 2, charged
with the murder of Elaine Philips who was shot and killed on February 15.
He was subsequently remanded into Her Majesty's Prison.
At the time of the murder, Harrigan had reported to
police that Philips was shot at the cash register in his
store by two masked men, a claim that had caused much shock
across the island. It now appears as if he had concocted the
claim to disguise his own actions.
In what police are currently reporting as an unrelated
incident, Bevan Harrigan was also arrested on April 30, for
possession of a firearm without a license. He also
appeared before the Magistrates Court on Wednesday and was
granted bail in the sum of EC $50,000 with two sureties to
attend court on June 15. |
