April 26, 2007: Reports out of St. Kitts state that the two men charged with
the murder of 25-year-old Anguillian Deon Warner on April 9,
2006 were set free on Monday April 23.
Just over one year ago, Warner was shot in the face during the early
morning hours as he was leaving the launch of a basketball
league in that island. He was taken to the Intensive Care
Unit of the Alexander Hospital in St. Kitts where he
remained paralyzed from the neck down and on life support.
He succumbed to his injuries after 3 weeks.
The prosecutor's only evidence in the case was apparently
statements made by the victim before he died, but the court
was not convinced and Justice Ianthea Leigertwood-Octave
directed the jury to find the men not guilty. The accused
were Trevis “Frisco” Byron of Jessup’s Village represented
in court by Dr. Henry Browne & Hesketh Benjamin and
Clive “Unkash” Walters of Stoney Grove represented by
Anthony Johnson.

Flash Back to 2003 in the Cayman Islands
Another Anguillian killed overseas with no justice.
"The trial of the accused murderer of Anguillian Franklyn "Sparrow" Lake in the Cayman Islands came to a dramatic conclusion on Wednesday March 19th 2003.
In what was described as a "tension filled courtroom" the judge in charge, in response to a defense "no case motion", dismissed the charges and rendered the accused, Damean Seymour, not guilty.
As a result of the abrupt end of the case, Seymour will not be subject to any further prosecution and the prosecution have not announced charges to be brought against any other individual for the April 14th 2002 murder of this Anguillian in the Cayman Islands.
