WINAIR TO STOP SCHEDULED FLIGHTS TO ANGUILLA - MAY 15 - Anguilla Air Services to take on Route

April 24, 2007: Windward Islands Airways International (WINAIR) has announced that as of May 15 2007,  the airline will stop all scheduled flights between Anguilla and St. Maarten.

The airline which has been experiencing financial difficulties for several years, attempted to resuscitate its failing route with different strategies and outsourcing more recently but had not reaped any viable rewards.

Increasing alternatives via ferry service from St. Maarten/St. Martin has been sighted as one of the main reasons for the failure of the airline's  route.

WINAIR will continue to operate charter flights to Anguilla.

At a reception celebrating the Ft. Lauderdale/St. Maarten flights introduced by Spirit Airlines on Saturday, Anguilla's Minister of Tourism Victor Banks announced that Anguilla Air Services will take on the route when it is abandoned by WINAIR.
