Spirit Airline’s Inaugural Flight Celebrated in Anguilla |
 The
Valley, Anguilla, April 23, 2007: On Saturday,
April 21st, a reception was held at Flavours Restaurant,
backstreet South Hill for the Inaugural Flight of Spirit
Airlines Service into St. Maarten and the sub-region.
Special Advisor Tourism Donna Banks chaired the
proceedings. The Honourable Minister of Tourism Victor F.
Banks who spoke at the reception, said that while he would
not knock American Airlines as they have served us in
Anguilla, he has to commend Spirit for opening new avenues
and options for persons traveling to and from Anguilla.
Mr. Banks also praised the representatives of Spirit for
bringing the upper echelons of their operations to Anguilla.
Mr. Banks reminded the gathering that although Spirit was
not named as a legacy airline its presence is deeply
appreciated and healthy relative to providing
competitiveness in air travel to St. Maarten and this
particular region.
The representatives for the airline also spoke. They
mentioned the promotional offers presently in place which
included a fare of US$99.00 one way to the Florida area. In
the exchange of gifts they presented a model aircraft to Mr.
Banks, His Excellency Andrew George, Tourism Director Amelia
Vanterpool-Kubisch and Mrs. Donna Banks.
Boss and the boys spent the evening entertaining the invited
guests.
