April, 5, 2007: The Commonwealth Youth Programme Caribbean
Centre (CYPCC) has agreed to the provide technical assistance, to upgrade the
capacity of the Anguilla
National Youth Council, which has been reinvigorated by its
current Director, Mr. Lennox Proctor.
According to a release on
www.thecommonwealth.org,
an agreement was reached between the CYPCC Regional Director,
Henry Charles and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of
Education, Culture and Youth Mr. Rodney Rey for Mr Proctor to
serve a short-term attachment at the CYP centre in Guyana as
part of a capacity building initiative.
In addition the CYPCC throughout the year, will provide the
following:

technical support to formulate an
effective youth development strategy
-
technical assistance to the newly
reconstituted Anguilla National Youth Council to develop a
strategic plan.

training in Youth Development and
Leadership for youth work volunteers, members of youth
organizations and other persons involved in youth work.
In a much needed boost to the department, which is currently
manned by the Director and one clerical staff member, the
Government of Anguilla has also agreed to intensify efforts to
recruit additional staff.
