WELCOME TO
THE INTERNET - SEPARATING FACT FROM FICTION |
Over the pass few weeks there has been a concerted effort on
several fronts to report real and fictitious crime in
Anguilla across the internet. One of our editors for example
had to contact a UK news agency last week who was
reporting that Warrington Phillips had killed his wife in
Anguilla, without any regard for the fact that the crime
they were reporting was in-fact Nevis's first murder of the
year.
The following is a letter published by

Title: Anguilla - what is happening to this lovely
island?
"Dear Sir:
I was visiting my sister in Anguilla March 6-13. During that
time, there were two robberies in the Cul de Sac area of
Blowing Point. One woman was threatened with rape. I have
seen no news on this at all and am wondering why? Though one
of the victims thought she recognized the robbers, the
police did not act (at least while I was there). My sister
lives in that area and I am concerned for her safety.
In addition, I heard there had been a murder in the East
Shoal Bay area in February.
What has happening to this lovely island? There never seems
to be any news about incidents of this sort(certainly not on Anguillanews.ai)and I
suspect the government doesn't want the word out that crime
(aside from drugs) has come to the island. Not good for
tourism.
This really concerns me, and should concern everyone who
goes to this island.
Angela Fowler"
