TERMACUS HAWLEY WINS DIGICEL’S $50,000 FORTUNE

The Valley, Anguilla (January 15, 2007) – Temarcus Hawley is the winner of Digicel’s $50,000 Key to Your Fortune promotion. Johnno’s Beach Stop last Sunday afternoon proved a fitting venue for the event, allowing a large crowd including family members, friends, tourists and on-lookers to witness this momentous occasion.

Host Colwayne Pickering, Digicel Credit & Collections Administrator, helped build the suspense by asking each contestant what they planned to do with the $50,000 should they win. Answers ranged from going to Disneyland to preparing for the arrival of a new baby. As one contestant after the next tried their key and it didn’t open the lock, the host joked with them as he said, “Take your time and make sure it’s not the right key. Perhaps because your hand is shaking is why you can’t get the key in.” With only two contestants left holding keys, Temarcus walked up to the chest to see if his key would open the lock as he mother looked on anxiously from the back of the room. Termacus was the perfect picture of calmness as the key turned, but Patra Brodie, his mother, leapt high in the air as the key turned in the lock and the audience applauded and screamed that he had won.

When asked what he would do now that he won the money Temarcus gave the same answer as when asked prior to winning, “I’ll go to St. Maarten and Canada.” His mom was a bit more practical as she said, “A sizeable portion will be put into savings for his education and of course he’ll have to treat himself.” Mrs. Brodie, a loyal Digicel customer herself, had tears of joy streaming down her face as she thanked Digicel and said that her son would tell all his friends to buy a Digicel phone.

Since the launch of the Digicel’s Key to Your Fortune promotion in Anguilla, a total of twenty (20) persons won cash prizes totaling $15,000. Ten persons each won cash prizes of $500 as winners of the weekly cash draw and ten persons won cash prizes of $1,000 for successfully spelling the word DIGICEL by combining the letters printed on Top-Up cards or by paying their bills on time. Seven of the ten (10) $1,000 winners went on to try their luck at opening the fortune chest to win the $50,000 cash prize.

Digicel’s Manager Stephenie Brooks was on hand to congratulate Termacus and his mother and congratulated them on being the lucky winner of the $50,000.

“Today really was the pinnacle of this exciting promotion and a dream come true for the lucky winner Temarcus Hawley. Digicel can only look forward to doing greater things for their valued customers,” Ms. Brooks disclosed.

“Digicel will continue to look for unique and creative ways to reward our loyal customers while they continue to experience the rewarding benefits of being a Digicel customer,” Ms. Brooks concluded.
