THE VALLEY, ANGUILLA (JANUARY 8, 2007) – Digicel, has launched its Digicel Caribbean Cup promotion. First prize is a pair of tickets to witness the finals of the 2006/7 Digicel Caribbean Cup on January 23rd, in Trinidad & Tobago. The 2006/7 tournament represents the largest ever Caribbean Football Tournament to be held in the region, with more international games playing in more islands and with more teams than ever before. The tournament which started September 2, 2006 saw a revised format of 10 preliminary qualifying groups and an eight-team final round which means there will be a total of 73 competitive matches played in this years’ tournament when compared to 52 in 2004/5. In keeping with its commitment to the continued growth of football in the region, Stephenie Brooks – Manager, Anguilla says, “Digicel has substantially increased its investment in the tournament to allow for an expanded tournament that will allow the best talent in the region to play high level competition for a longer period.” “Digicel’s increased investment also means the teams can look forward to a substantial increase in prize monies; the Digicel Caribbean Cup Champions for 2006/7 are to net the largest prize package ever of US$120,000, with US$70,000, US$50,000 and US$30,000 going to second, third and fourth places respectively,” Ms. Brooks continued. According to Ms. Brooks, the promotion will run from January 10th until the 19th. “During the promotion period, every time a customer purchases a Motorola handset, that customer will be automatically entered in the draw to win the coveted tickets to Trinidad as the first prize; the second prize winner will get a free Motorola handset with $1,000 credit and a party invitation for 20 of their friends to watch the Finals at a close circuit venue and; a third place winner will receive a Motorola handset with $500 credit and a signed jersey from the winning team. |
