June 26, 2007: Indian Temporary Workers Protest:
Dozens of foreign
workers, imported to work on resort developments in West End, descended
on the Valley in an unprecedented move to peacefully protest and
register complaints with the Labour Office highlighting their poor
working conditions, and low wages, among other issues. Barely able
to speak English some in the group attempted to communicate their
grievances to the Anguillians who came out to see them out of
curiosity or in sympathy with their alleged plight.
