April 23, 2008:  The Caribbean Commercial Bank has been the proud sponsor of the Anguilla Female Football League (AFFL) since 2004, one year after the League’s inception. This year, the Bank has pledged EC$16,200 towards the League’s activities. (More)

April 22, 2008:  On 22 April, the Society for the Conservation and Study of Caribbean Birds (SCSCB), the largest single regional organisation devoted to wildlife conservation, launched the 7th annual Caribbean Endemic Bird Festival (CEBF) which runs from 22 April to 22 May 2008. (More) 
Sport:  Super Stars win knock out football competition
April 21, 2008:  The Anguilla female football tournament commenced with a knock out /single elimination competition following a brief opening ceremony this past weekend. In the first abbreviated game the Lil Soldiers played the Youngsters in a thrilling game. (More)

April 19, 2008:  CHARLESTOWN, Nevis: The Premier of Nevis, Joseph Parry, in continued efforts to forge stronger relationships with Nevisians living abroad, will be leaving the Federation on Saturday, to meet with Nationals and Friends of Nevis in St Maarten and Anguilla this weekend.

Business: Cable & Wireless offers Residential Calling Circle plan to customers
(The Valley, Anguilla) April 17, 2008:  Cable & Wireless has unveiled a plan that will allow their customers to call those closest to them for a fixed amount every month.

Termed the "Residential Calling Circle", the plan will allow Fixed-line (including Netspeak) customers to call mobiles and vice versa for one fixed low monthly price and talk as long and as often as they want to!  (More....)

Captured: St. Maarten Police nab  Devon Chet Otto
 (The Valley, Anguilla) April 13, 2008:  The Daily Herald has reported that Police in St. Maarten have captured Devon Chet Otto, a St. Kitts national who resided illegally in Anguilla and is wanted by Anguillian Police in relation to crimes dating back to 2007. (More....)

BUSINESS: CAP JULUCA ACQUIRED BY NEW INVESTOR SYNDICATE LED BY ADAM M. ARON
(The Valley, Anguilla) April 09, 2008: Anguilla, British West Indies) -- An investor syndicate led by noted travel industry executive Adam M. Aron has formed Cap Juluca Properties Ltd., an Anguillan company, and has today acquired the Cap Juluca resort located on the island of Anguilla in the Leeward Islands of the British West Indies. Cap Juluca was developed in the 1980’s, and has been open to guests for some 20 years. Since 1997, it has been owned continuously by Dion Friedland, a private investor and entrepreneur. Business: Caribbean Cable Responds To Questions About Discontinuation Of Analog Television Signals In The United States
(The Valley, Anguilla) April 08, 2008: As many of Caribbean Cable Communications’ (CCC) subscribers have seen or heard, the Federal Communications Commission in the United States has decided that US Television Stations will stop broadcasting analog television signals in 2009. CCC has been receiving enquiries from its customers in Anguilla, Nevis and Montserrat about how they might be affected by this change. (More....)

Community: Survey Of Living Conditions -"Information For Action” – “Improvement For All”
(The Valley, Anguilla) April 03, 2008: According to a release from the National Assessment Team, Interviewers with identification cards are currently in the field interviewing persons from selected households for the current Country Poverty Assessment (CPA) 2007/08 which the Government of Anguilla in conjunction with the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), formally commenced in September 2007.

Failure to cooperate with the interviewers could result in a $3,000 fine plus $100 for each day the offence continues after conviction, in not providing the data.  (More....)

Community: Students display Science Projects at Primary School Fair - Secondary scheduled for April 21.
(The Valley, Anguilla) April 02, 2008: Some 28 projects were on display for the recently concluded Public Primary Schools Science Fair which was held at the Campus B auditorium from the 25th -26th March 2008. Students impressed the visitors with the quality of their work and the excitement they displayed about their projects.
