THE SNOWY EGRET (Egretta
thula)
The rainy season in
Anguilla helped to bring many of the ponds to life. Several Snowy
Egrets were seen at Grey Pond, Sandy Ground Pond and Meads Bay Pond
in June 2005.

It was usually seen on the
edge of pond or on marshy ground
Its
brilliantly white plumes were once very popular on hats
and resulted in the near extinction of the snowy egret
in US earlier last century.
Their main foods are fish, crabs, frogs and insects. |
